About Us
The Neurosurgical Group of Chattanooga was founded in 1947 by Drs. Robert Waters, Augustus McCravey, and Walter Boehm Sr. The original mission set forth in 1947 has not changed in over 60 years: To provide comprehensive neurosurgical care of the highest quality in a regional center of excellence.
Each physician is board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. The clinic treats a complete comprehensive spectrum of Neurologic disorders, including the brain, the spine, and the peripheral nerves. There is also a comprehensive non-operative rehabilitation program directed by the clinic.
Our physicians carry advanced training in complicated spinal surgery, minimally invasive surgical approaches for spinal disorders, pediatric neurosurgical care, and cutting edge treatment of all brain disorders including aneurysms, brain tumors, strokes, and other problems. Upon your referral to our center, your will be cared for by a team of specialists with your treatment tailored to your specific diagnosis and needs.
Our medical staff is affiliated with the Department of Surgery at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Medicine. Each doctor carries a clinical appointment to the medical college teaching staff. The medical staff includes 6 Neurosurgeons, 1 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, as well as nurse practitioners and physician assistants dedicated to patient care. Through close associations with the UT Chattanooga college of medicine, as well as regional hospitals in the area including Erlanger, TC Thompson’s, Memorial Hospital, Parkridge Hospital, Siskin Rehabilitation Institute, and Healthsouth Rehab hospital, the clinic keeps abreast of the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment of neurologic disorders.
The main office is located at 1010 East 3rd Street, suite 202. The McCravey building is located across from the main Baroness Erlanger hospital campus.
In 1998, Dr. Michel Pare joined our Group, establishing a full-time practice in our Dalton satellite office. He has worked closely with Hamilton Medical Center to develop a comprehensive neurosurgical service for the hospital, providing care to patients in Dalton and the north Georgia region.
This satellite office is located across the street from Hamilton Medical Center in the Medical Plaza at 1107 Memorial Drive, Suite G-3.
